Originally a Methodist congregation who built a church on First Street. They united with the Bible Christian faith in 1884 and moved into their building at corner of Spring and Winter Streets. The Summerside Methodist Church was built in 1894 with an unusual cornerstone citing the year in both AD and AL dating, the latter being of the Masonic calendar. This church became part of the United Church of Canada in 1925 adding the local Presbyterians to their congregation and renaming the church to Trinity United. A number of enlargements and additions have been made to the initial building. Having survived the Great Fire of 1906, it is the oldest church still standing and still in use in the original Summerside.
